Your child’s surgeon will take the curves of their spine and fuse them into a single piece of bone using bone grafts and metal hardware. The exact amount of spine that is fused together depends on the curve of the scoliosis.
Fusing the bones together prevents the curve from getting worse. Usually the spine is also able to be made straighter as well.
