Dr. Peter Yeh is the Assistant Medical Director of Pain Services for the Northern Region of OrthoVirginia. He is a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician who is fellowship trained in interventional pain management, spine, and musculoskeletal medicine at Vanderbilt University. He has expertise in several areas including the treatment of cervical and lumbar disc herniations, spinal stenosis, vertebral compression fractures, and complex regional pain syndrome. Dr. Yeh performs a variety of cutting edge treatments to improve the quality of life of his patients, including fluoroscopic-guided spinal injection, radiofrequency ablation, selective nerve root blocks, and sacral lateral branch ablations, and spinal cord stimulation, and peripheral nerve and joint injections.

Bio

Dr. Peter Yeh attended Tufts University in Boston, MA. He was the team captain for the Tufts Taekwondo Team and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biopsychology. He went on to earn his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, and also completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (physiatry) at Baylor College of Medicine where he served as Chief Resident. During residency, he was inducted to both the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Yeh then went on to pursue specialized training in interventional pain, spine, and musculoskeletal medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.

As an avid black belt Taekwondo practitioner and former National Junior Olympics taekwondo competitor who has experienced the impact and consequences of various injuries, Dr. Yeh has developed a passion for understanding the biomechanical basis of different injuries, the resulting functional implications, and prevention and treatment strategies. During his medical journey he has come to approach patient care with a wholistic philosophy consisting of timely diagnosis, effective treatments, and understanding of the patient’s goals and values. More specifically, his passion towards spine and pain disorders matured from his desire to help others return to daily activities they enjoy, whether it is walking in the park with a significant other or training for a competitive sports event. Active in several medical societies, Dr. Yeh enjoys expanding his knowledge on cutting edge technologies and evidence-based medicine that can enhance patient care. Dr. Yeh lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife trying new cuisines, traveling, golfing, and scuba diving. He also enjoys playing chess and taekwondo! Fun fact, he is an official United States Chess Federation National Chess Master and can play blindfold chess!
