Bio

Kirby Smith is a board certified physician assistant who joined OrthoVirginia in 2022. Prior to this, she worked in orthopedic trauma in the northern Virginia area for many years and has experience diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal injuries involving bones, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissue ailments in emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and perioperative settings. Kirby is also proficient in performing orthopedic procedures such as fracture and joint reductions, splinting, casting, aspirations, and injections.

Kirby earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Virginia Tech and completed her master of physician assistance studies at Jefferson College of Health Sciences.

As a former athlete and someone who enjoys physical and outdoor activities, she has always had a passion for orthopedics and finds joy in helping patients restore and preserve functional mobility and quality of life. Outside of work she enjoys traveling, horseback riding, and spending quality time with her family and two Corgis.
