OrthoVirginia Offices

Derek comes to OrthoVirginia from Maryland where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Maryland and later moved to Richmond where he obtained his graduate degree in Physician Assistant studies at South University. Starting his career in the emergency room and urgent care setting has provided him with a well-rounded knowledge as a PA, and he is now excited to specialize in orthopedics where he treats injuries at Ortho On Call.  Prior to becoming a PA, Derek taught science in the public school system and had a performing career as an actor, dancer, and singer.  As a performer he had the opportunity to work in various regional theaters throughout the country and even perform on a cruise ship. In his spare time he enjoys nature, swimming, playing group sports, spending time with friends and family, and caring for his bearded dragon and crested gecko! He still enjoys performing in the RVA area as opportunities arise.
