Michael J. Schreck, MD

Specialties

OrthoVirginia Offices

Dr. Schreck specializes in hand, wrist and elbow surgery. He has been fascinated by the anatomy of the hand and arm since the beginning of medical school, and he finds the complexity and intricacies of the anatomy awe-inspiring. As he went through his residency training, having an opportunity to see first-hand how someone can be helped by a hand-surgical procedure left no doubt in his mind that he would choose this field. A procedure as simple as a carpal tunnel release can be life-changing for a patient. Returning function to patients with hand and upper-extremity related issues is extraordinarily gratifying, as virtually all people require use of their hands to a significant degree in their daily lives. In his free time, Dr. Schreck enjoys exercising and spending time with his family.

Patient Testimonials

“When I had concerns about my surgery incision healing, and I called the after-hours line, Dr. Schreck immediately called me back and then called and checked on me later on to make sure that I was okay. Him reaching back out to me and checking on me was really awesome and not a common thing for doctors to do. It really made me feel more comfortable and at ease and I knew that it was top notch service.”

“Everyone was great!! This was my first experience with OrthoVirginia as a patient and it was exceptionally great. I know not everyone is a kid person but my 3 year old was treated with love, beyond my expectation. Dr. Schreck caught a complication in a timely manner that would prevent a much greater issue for us in the future.”

“Dr. Schreck is professional, but kind and caring. He takes his time and makes sure you are comfortable and knowledgeable about next steps. I would highly recommend Dr. Schreck to anyone. He far surpassed my expectations and I knew I was in good hands in his care.”

“Yes, Dr. Schreck was excellent. He was the best. He was a patient, knowledgeable, took the time to explain everything to me. I would definitely recommend him to anybody and I intend to use him again.“

“In every visit with a fractured left wrist, Dr. Schreck has always been exceedingly patient, addressing all my concerns as well as providing guidelines on permissible tasks from first diagnosing the problem to gradual healing of the wrist.”
