OrthoVirginia Offices

Dr. Kevin Pinkos is a board-certified and fellowship-trained hip and knee replacement specialist.  Before making the transition to OrthoVirginia, he spent almost 16 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy, including serving as the Chair of the Navy’s largest Department of Orthopedic Surgery.  He remains a Navy Reservist, and as a long-time resident of Hampton Roads, especially enjoys taking care of current and former military service members, their families, and all affiliated with the DoD.  As a joint replacement subspecialist, Dr. Pinkos finds it most rewarding to be able to give patients their quality of life back, allowing them to return to the activities that they enjoy most.  In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, including volunteering at the kids’ sporting events.  He also enjoys cycling, hiking, fishing, golf and participating in triathlons.

Patient Testimonials

“I am currently 67 years old and have had a few knee surgeries in the past…a repair of my right knee [2 ligaments torn], a right knee replacement and a microdisectomy that left me with foot drop in my left leg. I found myself with major restrictions even after following all the doctor post-op orders to the best of my ability.

I finally found myself needing a left knee replacement after 30 years of making that left side do all the work.

I live in NC so I researched NC and VA for a surgeon and found Dr. Pinkos. His military experience of roughly 1500 procedures as well as his calming demeanor was exactly what I needed. There are quite a few surgeons with more experience and phenomenal reputations but I felt Dr. Pinkos was the one for me.

He understood my entire situation and all the issues that had brought me to where I was. The left knee replacement went exactly as he described. I was up in no time, tossed crutches in a matter of a few days and rehab was a breeze.

I would select Dr. Pinkos and his staff without any hesitation. He is not the most famous of the OrthoVirginia surgeons but he is the best in my book!” – Mark

“Dr. Pinkos was attentive, listened to my hip concern, asked appropriate questions and gave me feedback to help alleviate/lessen the pain that I feel. The medication that he prescribed has reduced the sharpness of my pain and the exercises he suggested will hopefully aid in reducing the constant ache. I was glad that he gave me hope to move on, no other doctor has presented that opportunity before.”

“Dr. Pinkos is the most professional MD I have ever had. Great bedside manner. Very informative. Took his time to explain all options of care. I am more than pleased to have had him as my doctor.”

“I cannot say enough about Dr. Pinkos. He is very knowledgeable about his subject, while at the same time being down to earth and friendly. I have complete confidence in his care and have recommended him to others. Will be scheduling my husband to see him as well.”

“Dr. Pinkos is amazing. I am so happy I had my hip replacement surgery. I feel better than I have in several years. He explained to me exactly what was going to happen and I was thrilled with the outcome.”

“Dr. Pinkos was very professional, very caring, and very concerned. He put my mind at ease. He explained everything. He went through everything. His demeanor is wonderful. I would recommend him to anybody who had to have a hip replacement surgery. He is top-notch in my book. He is the man.”
