OrthoVirginia Offices

Dr. Garry Ho is a sports medicine specialist. He chose the specialty of sports medicine because it combines two things that he loves – the fascinating intricacies of how the human body and musculoskeletal anatomy work and the intellectual stimulation this brings; and the joy of working with people – as a team – to achieve their health care goals. Dr. Ho also considers anyone with a body an athlete – every patient he sees is either a past, current, future, or potential athlete. In his free time, Dr. Ho enjoys traveling, spending time with his wife and children, and exercising, especially in martial arts.

Bio

Dr. Ho chose the specialty of sports medicine because it combines two things that he loves – the fascinating intricacies of how the human body and musculoskeletal anatomy work and the intellectual stimulation this brings; and the joy of working with people – as a team – to achieve their health care goals. Dr. Ho considers anyone with a body an athlete – every patient he sees is either a past, current, future, or potential athlete.

Dr. Ho sees the practice of medicine and the care of patients as collectively both an art and a science. Through open, honest communication, creativity – and a drive to educate, inform, and guide – the relationship the physician fosters with both the individual patient and the community tempers the hard, cold facts and evidence provided by the latest research. All this is aimed at helping people accomplish their personal healthcare goals.

In his free time, Dr. Ho enjoys traveling, spending time with his wife and children, and exercising. He particularly enjoys martial arts – having studied Traditional Japanese Karate for most of his life – and a myriad of outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, in-line skating, mountain biking, and tactical sports. He also enjoys the teaching and learning process in general, and is grateful for the many opportunities he has to apply this in both his personal and professional interests.

Patient Testimonials

“I am very thankful to have found Dr. Ho as he took the time to explain more about my current condition and options than any doctor I had visited previously. His patience while answering my questions was also appreciated. I now feel a lot more hopeful and confident as I move forward with treatment.”

“Dr. Ho is just simply a unicorn. Both bedside manner, procedural excellence, educational knowledge and keeping up with his specialty in terms of latest research. I trust him wholly and appreciate all he does. Overall and in all aspects, above & beyond.”

“Dr. Ho was terrific! So professional and friendly, made me feel very comfortable discussing my current pain and past medical history. He spent plenty of time with me and explained various options, discussed insurance costs and the “suffering costs” with the various treatments I could consider. He encouraged me to take my time to decide long-term vs short-term treatments…which was appreciated because it feels overwhelming.”

“Very professional, extremely knowledgeable, superb communications, heart-warming experience, received excellent care. I am your patient for life now!”

“Very prompt, professional, and friendly from the moment I walked in the door. Dr. Ho was also interested in helping to educate me about what he was seeing with the imaging he was taking, which was very welcomed. His taking an extra minute or two gave me high confidence in what he was doing, as well as an understanding in what to expect moving forward. Excellent experience, overall!”
