Virginia Beach, Va., September 17, 2020 – OrthoVirginia is pleased to announce John D. Duerden, MD, and Christopher Ellingson, MD, have joined OrthoVirginia in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Dr. Duerden, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in the foot and ankle, attended the College of William and Mary for his undergraduate education and earned his medical degree from Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He completed his residency at the National Capital Consortium and his fellowship at Penn State.
Dr. Duerden is a member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, Orthopedic Trauma Association, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Ellingson, a knee and shoulder surgeon and sports medicine specialist, attended Augustana College for his undergraduate education and earned his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the Naval Medical Center and his fellowship at Minnesota Sports Medicine.
Dr. Ellingson is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons, and Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Dr. Duerden joined the practice September 1, 2020 and is now accepting patients at the Virginia Beach office. Dr. Ellingson will join the practice October 1, 2020 and is now accepting patients at the Virginia Beach office.
