Bio

Dr. Kim graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer science.  He obtained his MD degree at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed residency training at Temple University Hospital and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Georgetown University. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and is a Fellow in American Orthopaedic Surgeons Society.

Dr. Kim treats patients with all types of orthopaedic conditions but specializes in sports medicine and osteoarthritis problems.  Most of his elective cases are performed via minimally invasive arthroscopic approach. He also performs total knee replacements utilizing robotic surgery. Dr. Kim provides skilled surgical care based on years of experience and thousands of surgical cases. Dr. Kim is well liked and respected by the hospital staff.

Dr. Kim volunteers his time at local high schools taking care of athletes. He currently serves as the team physician to Battlefield High School and US Speedskating. He regularly provides lectures for certified athletic trainers of Prince William County Schools and works closely with athletic training department of George Mason University. He is actively involved in researches in sports medicine in conjunction with the George Mason University Athletic Training Department.

Dr. Kim has numerous honors. He was named the recipient of Dr. Frank McCuen Sports Medicine Award by the Virginia High School Coaches’ Association. He was named one of Washington D.C.’s top experts in Sports Medicine by Washingtonian Magazine. He was listed as one of Northern Virginia’s Top Doctors by Northern Virginia Magazine. Dr. Kim has served as Chairman of the Orthopedic Department of Prince William Hospital. He is one of the co-founders of the Sports Medicine and Concussion Management Program at Prince William Hospital.

Dr. Kim holds privileges and performs surgeries at Prince William Medical Center, Haymarket Medical Center, and UVA Health affiliated surgical centers.
