Peter Helvie, MD

Specialties

OrthoVirginia Offices

Dr. Peter Helvie specializes in hip and knee joint replacement. He chose joint replacement when he saw firsthand how happy his patients were after they had their hip or knee replaced and were able to get back to the life they had been missing out on and feel like themselves again. No other intervention in medicine or surgery gives patients their life back in quite the same way, and he wanted to be able to provide that to his patients. Dr. Helvie also finds meaning in taking care of the rare but difficult situation when patients have complications from hip or knee replacements. The impact hip and knee arthritis and other diseases can have on someone’s life is tremendous and he is grateful to help patients along their treatment path, whether it is surgery or non-operative care. In his free time, Dr. Helvie enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, hiking, biking, college sports, playing guitar, and doing activities that get him outside.
