About Dr. Nordt

Dr. Bill Nordt is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee, shoulder and sports medicine injuries. He began practicing with OrthoVirginia in 1990 after finishing sports and knee Fellowships from the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia and Rene Marti, Amsterdam. He graduated from Rutgers Medical School and did his Internship and Residency at Montefiore Medical Center, The Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Nordt is passionate about caring for his patients and getting them back to the activities they enjoy. Understanding how the joints work, on the very fundamental and scientific level, has always been of great interest to him. From early on, Dr. Nordt has done research on both knee and shoulder injuries and has devoted his life to developing an expertise to treat his patients’ injuries. Dr. Bill Nordt holds a sports medicine fellowship from the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia and knee fellowship with Rene Marti, in Amsterdam. The field of sports medicine has grown to encompass care for active patients of all ages. We strive to treat patients non-operatively whenever possible.

In the event surgery is necessary, Dr. Nordt embraces the following principles:

This applies to minor arthroscopic procedures as well as major knee and shoulder reconstructions. Our goal is always to return patients to their pre-injury level of activity, as quickly as possible. The key to this philosophy is minimizing the trauma of surgery, accurate surgical technique and aggressive rehabilitation. An active lifestyle is crucial to a healthy life.
