Dr. Jessalynn Adam is a fellowship-trained, board-certified PM&R physician specializing in primary care sports medicine. Dr. Adam specializes in the care of athletes and active individuals of all ages. Dr. Adam offers a comprehensive and holistic approach to care for her patients, from the well-trained athlete to the weekend warrior and casual jogger. Dr. Adam serves as the Assistant Team Medical Doctor for the Washington Commanders and as a Team USA Physician for US Figure Skating. She previously served as a Team Physician for D.C. United. In her free time, she enjoys running, gymnastics, reading, traveling and exploring, and spending time with her husband and her dog, an Aussiedoodle. Dr. Adam speaks both English and French.

Dr. Jessalynn Adam has always been fascinated by the body, especially the musculoskeletal system. As a dancer and gymnast growing up, she unfortunately suffered several injuries herself. Through her rehabilitation, she came to understand anatomy and how to prevent injury.
Dr. Adam attended Princeton University for her bachelor’s degree in psychology and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She then attended Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. While at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for her residency, she was selected as Education Chief Resident. She completed a fellowship in sports medicine at MedStar NRH/Georgetown.
Dr. Adam has a strong focus on helping athletes at all levels and ages, and specializes in sports-related care. She has worked with many professional athletes, including players in the NBA, WNBA, and MLS. Dr. Adam serves as the Assistant Team Medical Doctor for the Washington Commanders and as a Team USA Physician for US Figure Skating. She previously served as a Team Physician for D.C. United.
As a lifelong athlete, she enjoys running and has a special interest in running medicine. She has served as medical staff for numerous marathons and triathlons including the Philadelphia Marathon, Baltimore Running Festival, Penn Relays Track and Field Competition, and Marine Corps Marathon.
Dr. Adam has a special interest in ultrasound point-of-care exams and ultrasound-guided procedures, including platelet-rich plasma and newer biologic agents, to augment healing. She advocates shared decision-making with her patients to come up with a care plan that is both personalized and evidence-based.
Dr. Adam appreciates that orthopedics is constantly evolving and that tools such as diagnostic ultrasound allow physicians see inside the body with real-time imaging of various joints and muscles. She loves being able to share this with patients.
